Nicole Kidman's Glittery Gold Christmas Tree is a Testament to The Timeless Allure of Warm Metallics

Sometimes, the best Christmas decor is the simplest. Rather than new ideas or trends, turning to tried-and-true color schemes creates a memorable design that brings warmth and elegance into your home instantly. Metallics, like silver, gold, and bronze, are one of the chicest options.

Take Nicole Kidman's sparkly gold Christmas tree as the perfect example. Her beautiful glitter ornaments are the gorgeous complement to the evergreen branches of her tree, highlighting the gorgeous warmth of these tones (I love this camera-shaped version for Anthropologie). She has selected ornaments in a range of sizes to fit in with her golden string lights.

Its exceedingly simple, but oh-so striking. Her tree is a testament to the timlessness of gold in Christmas decor.

Part of what works so well about Nicole's decor theme is how well it combines with the natural tones of the tree. These elements timelessly combine with other traditional Christmas colors.

Interior designer and professional organizer Alejandra Salazar states: 'Forest green adds a natural and timeless element, and antique gold adds warmth and luxury. I love the look of mixing different shades of gold and green ornaments, matte with metallic, and using burgundy velvet ribbon on the tree. These colors are also beautiful on gifts and can easily be incorporated into your home decor during the holiday season!'

To recreate Nicole's look, focus on a balance between decorating and keeping it pared back. Alejandra advises: 'My biggest decorating tip that I give my clients each year is pick 2-3 colors and stick with them! When decorating your Christmas tree with a variety of colors, try to repeat those colors throughout your tree so that instead of looking busy, it looks cohesive!'

As the variety of shapes on Nicole's tree demonstrates, another element to pay attention to is the dimensions of your different ornaments. 'Instead of covering your tree with Christmas ornaments that are all the same size, add depth to your tree by tucking larger ornaments deeper into your tree (towards sturdier branches) and decorating the outer branches with medium and smaller sized ornaments,' states Alejandra. 'Instead of looking sparse, your tree will look lush and full!'

Though it's not the most innovative choice, gold ornaments always look good.
