What's better than one crystal chandelier? Three crystal chandeliers. Lining three light fixtures down a table balances a room and creates drama, as demonstrated by Kris Jenner's novel take on a traditional dining room.
The dining room lighting idea in the socialite's Hidden Hills home was designed by Jeff Andrews in 2015 as a playful celebration of chandeliers Kris had collected over the years. Rather than creating a single focal point, the technique pulls the eye along the table, while the difference in antique chandelier design creates a subtly satisfying asymmetry. The rest of the room is grounded by textured chocolate brown decor (these stylish upholstered chairs from Wayfair are great for recreating the look).
As homeowners look to new methods to make luxury homes feel warm and inviting for 2027, we predict that Kris's rule of three approach to lighting will continue to grow in popularity.
First, let's explore what makes Kris's lighting idea look so striking. Jennifer Fitzpatrick, Founder and Principal Designer of Studio J & Co explains: 'The human eye naturally registers odd-numbered groupings as balanced without feeling overly rigid or symmetrical.'
This technique works especially well across a dining area. 'In a dining room, repeating three identical chandeliers creates rhythm and visually anchors a long table,' continues Jennifer. 'Lighting in threes draws the line of sight across the entire length of the room, making the space feel expansive while providing an even, ambient glow across the entire table... eliminating harsh shadows at either end.'
Recreate Kris's Look at Home
Chocolate brown furnishings and crystal chandeliers bring Kris's traditionally decorated dining room to life. These are our editors picks for replicating her style.
Luckily, Kris's rule of threes lighting techique is relatively simple to recreate. The first step is to make sure you scale the lights proportionally.

Jennifer advises: 'If you are hanging three fixtures instead of one central chandelier, scale down the diameter of each individual piece so they don't visually crowd each other. The total width of all three lights combined should equal about two-thirds the width of your dining table.'
Next, it's essential that you master the spacing between fixtures. 'Space the fixtures equally—typically 24 to 30 inches apart from center to center—and ensure the bottom of each chandelier sits 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop for proper clearance,' recommends Jennifer.
On a more practical note, it's essential that you wire the three chandeliers to a single dimmer for a cohesive feel. Jennifer states: 'Always wire all three fixtures to a single dimmer switch. Being able to adjust the light intensity across the entire trio simultaneously is what creates that warm, hospitable dining ambiance.'
A set of three lights instantly makes a dining room look interesting and eye-catching. If it's good enough for Kris Jenner, it's good enough for us.
