Every host knows that the best parties aren’t just defined by good food and drinks. It’s the atmosphere that makes a night memorable – from the warm and inviting lighting to the soft music that reverberates in the background.
Curating this ambience is a science that’s not always easy to master, but IKEA’s simplified it with its new BLOMPRAKT Speaker Lamp – a clever two-in-one gadget that can cast a warm glow and play your favorite tunes at the same time. This small, unassuming, yet ultra-high-end-looking lighting idea can gracefully sit on a countertop, a side table, or a mantel, enhancing your party in more ways than one.
Plug in its matching fabric cord, turn it on, and this lamp will glow with warm light and play your favorite playlists via Bluetooth. It features several light output levels to adjust the ambience as needed, and thanks to its multi-speaker mode, this device can connect to other compatible devices to create a surround sound experience. Aside from this rust color, this speaker lamp is available in three other colors.
The BLOMPRAKT Speaker Lamp is not just a dual-purpose device that sheds light plays music, but it’s incredibly stylish, too. Between its angled shape and glossy, rust-toned body, it looks like a high-end buy from a modern lighting store. But it’s less than $60 from IKEA.
As someone who believes that ambience is a make-or-break feature of a good party, I'm glad that I found this speaker lamp ahead of hosting season. I’m already envisioning it as part of my living room lighting scheme – I'll place it on my credenza so it's behind the scenes of a party but still making itself known with its warm light and its gentle beat. I might even get two – with its multi-speaker mode, I can position one at either end of my apartment to keep the mood consistent throughout my entire space.
As if this speaker lamp couldn't get any more desirable, it has tons of glowing (pun intended) reviews. ‘It's excellent,’ one person raves. ‘As a lamp, it's perfect, with a large number of internal LEDs, and unlike many rechargeable portable lamps, it doesn't have that glaring, bright look. Even at its brightest setting, the brightness is subdued. As a speaker, pairing is very easy… the sound has a way of resonating and filling the space.’
As a high-end-inspired lamp with a warm light output and speaker capabilities that's sold for less than $60 at IKEA, the BLOMPRAKT Speaker Lamp might be the most exciting home tech buy I've come across in a long time. Trust me, your home needs this device.

Finished in a bold shade of orange, this speaker lamp is definitely a statement piece. As a lamp, it leans more modern with its dome-shaped shade, and a JBL speaker is built into its base. Portable by design, this speaker lamp can move with you throughout your home.
Another portable lamp option, this speaker lamp is simple and minimalistic by design. Its slim build makes it easy to carry with you from room to room, or even outside, and it offers up to six hours of battery life before needing a charge.
