Incorporating natural materials, like the bamboo tree and the wood on the mid-century chairs in Adam and Behati's space, is a key technique for emulating this style. 'I would advise opting for a warm coloured wooden floor in tones such as honeyed oak, walnut or reclaimed pine which are particularly well suited to the warm minimalist aesthetic,' says Amanda. 'To enhance the serene feeling of an autumn décor, choose a herringbone layout with a two-toned effect for added depth.'
This approach is incredibly versatile. Amanda recommends: 'For a more immersive and contemporary take on this style, consider embracing the wood-drenching trend using consistent wood tones across floors, walls, cabinetry, and even furniture. This creates a layered, enveloping warmth that elevates the minimalist palette without adding visual clutter.'
Furthermore, chocolate brown decor is a key anchor color for the warm minimalist trend. As evidenced by Adam and Behati's sofa, it's an incredibly cocooning, welcoming shade.
Magdalena Gierasinska, design expert at Barker and Stonehouse explains: 'Once dismissed as fusty and old fashioned, the popularity of brown interiors continues to rise thanks to its universal appeal – it works within both traditional and contemporary settings and complements most colourways. Brown is also reminiscent of the outdoors, meaning it has a nurturing influence when used within the home.'
